Adam Bartlett Joins Cambridge United on Loan

Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper Adam Bartlett has joined Cambridge United on a short-term loan. Bartlett will provide cover for Danny Potter in the Blue Square Premier Play-Off Final game against Torquay United tomorrow (Sunday 17th May), and may well stay on past the summer.
A number of clubs had been looking to sign Adam Bartlett, with Oxford United reportedly keen to secure the keeper’s services; it now looks as though Cambridge United will be the team to sign him though, and if Bartlett does indeed join Cambridge this summer then the club will have picked up a very exciting and talented young goalkeeper indeed.
Bartlett joined Kidderminster from Blyth Spartans in summer 2008, and was previously a part of the Newcastle Untied youth team.

Oxford United Sign Jack Midson

25 year-old Histon striker Jack Midson has officially signed for Oxford United on a free transfer. Midson scored 23 goals this season for Histon, and is now set to partner James Constable upfront in the Oxford United attack next season.
James Constable himself scored 26 goals in all competitions for Oxford this season, so Oxford United is now in possession of two very powerful forward players. The two strikers should well form an excellent partnership, and with Oxford United having finished the 2008/09 season so strongly; new players being brought in of this calibre should make Oxford United a very strong force of a football team for next season.
Before joining Histon in the 2007/08 season, Jack Midson had previously played for Stevenage Borough, Dagenham & Redbridge, and Bishop’s Stortford.
Midson is Oxford United’s second signing so far, with the club this week having announced the capture of Kidderminster Harriers captain Mark Creighton also.
Having recently released eight players; Oxford manager Chris Wilder is quickly looking to rebuild the Oxford United squad, and will look to further increase Oxford’s attacking options before the end of the summer.

Yemi Odubade Joins Stevenage Borough

Although it was said that Yemi Odubade was welcome back at his former club Eastbourne Borough after being released by Oxford United; Yemi Odubade has instead opted to sign for Stevenage Borough.
Odubade spent 3 and a half years at Oxford after signing from Eastbourne for £25,000 in January 2006, Oxford boss Chris Wilder decided that now was the time for him to move on though, and Odubade’s Oxford contract was not renewed so as to cut the Yellows overall wage expenditure.
Yemi Odubade now joins his former team mate Eddie Anaclet, who left Oxford United for Broadhall Way last summer.
Odubade is Stevenage’s second signing so far, with the club already having announced the capture of Charlie Griffin from Salisbury City on Saturday (May 9th).

Andy Burgess, Chris Hope, and Marcus Kelly All Set to Leave Rushden

Rushden & Diamonds captain Andy Burgess is likely to leave the club this summer, and so too are Chris Hope and Marcus Kelly. The club is facing budget issues, and these three players are therefore likely to leave in order to decrease the club’s overall wage expenditure.
A product of the Rushden & Diamonds youth system, Andy Burgess has been a massive part of Rushden & Diamonds Football Club for many years now, and although he spent 18 months with Oxford after leaving Rushden in January 2006; he has done very well for the club since returning in summer 2007, and the fans will no doubt be very sad to see their captain go if he does indeed leave the club in the summer.
23 year-old Marcus Kelly is another product of the Rushden & Diamonds youth system, and has been with the club since 2003, Chris Hope meanwhile has been with Rushden since 2006.
All three players have made more than 100 league appearances for Rushden, and it’s a difficult situation for the club to have to let go three such important players. Come next season there’s a possibility that none of these three players will still be playing for Rushden & Diamonds though, and if this is indeed the situation then things certainly won’t be easy for the club’s present manager Justin Edinburgh.
Rushden & Diamonds finished 11th in the Blue Square Premier this season, with 63 points from 46 games played.

The End of Fisher Athletic

Relegated from the Blue Square South, Fisher Atheltic has now been wound up in the High Court with immediate effect.
The club wanted more time to pay the Inland Revenue, and the Fisher Athletic website reports that around £250,000 was owed; more time has not been granted though, and having last month been given 21 days to find the cash, sadly the money has not been paid, and this therefore means the end of Fisher Athletic Football Club in its present form.
The club’s official website will remain active, and will continue to be updated throughout the summer; Fisher Athletic in its current form is no more though, and the Fisher Athletic Supporters Trust will now look into the possibility of reforming the club lower down the non-league pyramid in the not too distant future.
101 years Fisher Athletic was active for, and given the rich history of this football club; I’m sure that every effort will be taken to make sure that Fisher Athletic Football Club returns in some form sooner rather than later.

Lee Hook Joins Dover Athletic

Having won promotion to the Blue Square South; Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler has now signed the club a very reliable goalkeeper for next season in the form of Eastbourne Borough’s Lee Hook.
Born in Margate, Hook had been with Eastbourne for six years before moving on, having signed for Boro from Sittingbourne back in June 2003.
Hook appeared 52 times for Eastbourne in the 2008/09 season, and during his six year stay with the club made a massive 312 appearances in total. Hook’s strength in goal this season helped Eastbourne Borough to a 13th place finish in the Blue Square Premier, and the hugely experienced 30 year-old shot stopper will now be hoping to help Dover Athletic achieve great glory in the Blue Square South next season.
Lee Hook won promotion with Eastbourne via the Blue Square South play-offs in 2008, and with Dover Athletic now looking to get back into the Blue Square Premier; Hook’s experience could come in incredibly handy in Andy Hessenthaler’s quest for success with Dover.

Centre-back Mark Creighton won the Kidderminster Harries Player of the Year Award in the 2006/07 season, and followed up this success by once again winning the award in 2007/08.
Creighton has made 42 league appearances for Kidderminster this season, and has made 132 league appearances total since signing for the club from Redditch United in summer 2006.
A popular player for Kidderminster; Mark Creighton will now be hoping to enjoy much success with Oxford, and is clearly very pleased to have agreed terms with the club.
Speaking with Oufc.co.uk, Mark Creighton had the following to say: “It's an unbelievable place to play and I'm delighted to be here.” Creighton then continued by thanking Mark Yates and Neil Howarth for providing him with a fantastic three years at Kidderminster, and expressed his desire to win the league and get promoted this season with Oxford. Creighton also declared that he’s pleased to join a club that three of his best friends in football already play for; James Constable, Billy Turley, and Adam Murray.

Stevenage Sign Charlie Griffin

With Steve Morison all set to join Millwall for £250,000 in the summer; Stevenage manager Graham Westley therefore had to try and think fast in finding a replacement for his star striker, and has indeed done so by quickly snapping up Charlie Griffin from Salisbury City on a free transfer.
Griffin scored 21 league goals for Salisbury this season, making him the fourth most prolific goalscorer in the Blue Square Premier, scoring just 1 less in the league than Steve Morison.
29 year-old Griffin has had an absolutely fantastic season at Salisbury, and Graham Westley will now be hoping that Charlie Griffin can perform equally well for Stevenage in the 2009/10 campaign.
Charlie Griffin is a player with great experience, and Stevenage Borough will now be hoping that Griffin’s goals can help the club achieve promotion to the Football League next season.

Whitley Bay Win the FA Vase

Whitley Bay has won the FA Vase with a 2-0 win over Glossop North End. Whitley won the FA Vase for the first time back in 2002, and has now become only the fifth team in history to win the trophy twice.
Lee Kerr and Paul Chow were the two players to score for Whitley, and both goals came in the first-half of the match. Glossop put up a good fight, the Derbyshire side was unable to find the net though, and Whitley was therefore able to win the game without conceding.
The Whitley fans will no doubt be pleased that their side has once again been able to win the FA Vase, and having last time won it at Villa Park; it will have been good for them to this time see their side win it at Wembley.
Congratulations to Whitley Bay for winning the 2009 FA Vase Final, and with the team having finished third in the Northern League Division One this season; the club will surely have hopes of once again winning the league in the not too distant future.
